Overhead Line Cables

AAC, (All Aluminum Conductors) & ACSR (ALUMINUM CONDUCTOR STEEL REINFORCED)
electric conductors are used in power transmission and distribution networks, and the conveyor consists of several aluminum wires drawn and stranded according to the required AAC conveyor section, and when the section is required to be mechanically strengthened, the wires are twisted around a steel core to withstand the expected tensile stresses on the ACSR section.
The appropriate conveyor section is determined according to the intensity of the expected current to pass, the temperature of the medium, and the mechanical stresses applied to the conveyor, which depend on its own weight and other loads such as wind, ice … etc.
These conductors are used in low, medium and high voltage lines. AAC has seen extensive use in cities where spans are usually short and conductivity is high. Aluminum’s excellent corrosion resistance has also made AAC a preferred conductor in coastal areas. In rural areas, ACSR is used, where the stretches are often long and the ratio of strength to weight is relatively large and it is equipped with suitable grease for additional protection from corrosion.
Bare aluminum conveyors can be equipped on wooden or steel rollers.
